This month, we are highlighting our ongoing partnership with EV Energy Group, a full-service EVSE solutions provider with charging ports deployed and operational from coast to coast.
What Makes EV Energy Group Unique
EV Energy curates and deploys a diverse portfolio of charging hardware, all operated on their OCPP-compliant EVXY network. Every charger they deploy includes a five-year EVSTAR warranty, providing full-service coverage and long-term reliability.
Beyond charging, EV Energy delivers value-added services including advertising, data insights, and security solutions. Their proprietary EVAN (EV Ad Network) monetizes digital screens embedded in charging stations, creating new revenue streams for site hosts.
Founded in 2017, EV Energy Group brings nearly a decade of hands-on industry experience. They’ve learned hard lessons, navigated early-stage growing pains, and built a platform designed for reliability, transparency, and host confidence.
It All Started with an EV
When asked what inspired the start of EV Energy Group, John Truckenbrod, founder and CEO of EV Energy Group, responded with a personal story that many EV drivers may relate to.
“I purchased a Tesla Model S in 2016,” Truckenbrod shared. “Like many early adopters, I hadn’t fully researched what EV ownership entailed, but I immediately fell in love with the experience.”
Two weeks later, they took their daughter to summer camp in Interlochen, Michigan, a 336-mile drive from their home. The car seamlessly planned their trip, telling them where to Supercharge, how long to stop, and when they would arrive. Charging was simple, reliable, economical, and abundant. It was this experience that shifted his vision for the EV industry.
“That experience was eye-opening,” Truckenbrod shared. “The entrepreneur in me wanted to evangelize this technology and make it accessible to others. EV Energy Group was born from that moment.”
EV Energy Group’s Long-Term Vision
To EV Energy Group, the future is clearly electrified. While the transition may be slower than early forecasts predicted, the end state is unmistakable. Municipalities and businesses are electrifying fleets as quickly as possible to reduce operating costs and improve reliability.
“Consumer adoption may lag due to uncertainty and resistance to change, but once someone drives an EV, lifestyle advantages quickly replace fear,” Truckenbrod said. “A major part of our mission is correcting misinformation.”
He noted that in some studies, gas-powered equipment stored in garages has shown higher fire risk than EVs. Utilities have publicly stated they can meet both current and projected electricity demand, and national laboratories continue to demonstrate progress toward fully recyclable EV batteries.
“Education, reliability, and trust will drive adoption—and that’s where EV Energy focuses,” Truckenbrod stated.
Why EV Energy Group Partnered with EVSTAR
“Partnering with EVSTAR was a straightforward decision,” Truckenbrod said. “They solve one of the industry’s biggest challenges: true, full-service hardware protection.”
Most EVSE warranties offer only limited parts coverage for a short duration. EVSTAR extends that coverage to five years and includes parts, labor, and accidental damage, backed by an A+-rated insurance provider.
Just as important, the program is reliable. “In the past, we sold warranties that were poorly written, underfunded, or ultimately abandoned, leaving us exposed with our clients,” Truckenbrod shared. “EVSTAR’s financial backing and execution gave us confidence we could stand behind every deployment.”
EVSTAR Filled the Gap
EV Energy Group prioritizes delivering honest and reliable service. They believe host confidence is critical to closing sales and maintaining long-term partnerships.
They provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 customer support, maintaining at least 98% operation uptime across their network. However, electronic equipment deployed in the field will inevitably experience issues.
That’s where EVSTAR’s Tier 3 support becomes essential. EV Energy Group has opened multiple cases that were resolved quickly and efficiently, in turn keeping chargers operational, hosts generating revenue, and drivers reliably powered. Every touchpoint benefits from EV Energy Group’s partnership with EVSTAR.
What Customers Are Saying
The first charger fault is truly a moment of truth for every site host, where they watch closely to see whether warranty promises are fulfilled. EV Energy Group shared that they have seen accidental damage claims covered with minimal friction, clear communication, and impressive response times.
“Hosts appreciate the transparency and predictability of the EVSTAR process,” Truckenbrod explained. “The EV charging industry is still young and evolving, and reliability matters. EV Energy Group and our clients genuinely value EVSTAR’s role in making charging dependable.”
And that’s exactly EVSTAR’s goal.
What’s to Come for EV Energy Group
When asked what’s coming in 2026 for EV Energy Group, John Truckenbrod shared some exciting news.
“Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) is a major focus for us, offering qualified hosts EV charging infrastructure with no upfront capital expense. We’re also launching EVXYZ, a zero-cost network designed specifically for fleets and multi-unit dwellings.”
2025 was a fantastic year for EV Energy Group, and they expect 2026 to be even stronger.
We look forward to seeing what they accomplish this year and are grateful for the opportunity to help make EV charging more reliable through our partnership.
